Nasa have recommended cruising

Well ok that might be a slight exaggeration, or what some people might call a lie but they have just released some information that might be good news for anyone looking to book a cruise to the fjords this winter.


Winter 2011/2012 will see the biggest and most visible displays of the Aurora Borealis for over 50 years. If you've ever fancied doing a light hunting cruise this winter may well be the perfect time to do it.
Light hunting cruises are operated by companies such as Hurtigruten cruises and operate in the far north during the winter months allowing people the greatest chance to see the Aurora Borealis displays.
The reason that the displays will be so prominent this year is that the Solar Maximum, a period when the sun's magnetic field on the solar equator rotates at a slightly faster pace than at the solar poles, will be at the height of it's cycle this winter.

Anyone who has been thinking about booking a cruise to see this amazing spectacle would be well advised to do it this year.
