Recommended gratuities for your cruise.......

Several clients have been asking me to compare the different levels of gratuities that different cruise lines ask for/expect for them. I've put together a handy little guide so that you can compare them. This probably isn't going to be the most interesting post I've ever written but fingers crossed you'll find it useful and informative.

Happy cruising

Azamara Club Cruises - Gratuities already included although there will be 18% added to your bar and spa bill.

Carnival Cruise line - Tips are compulsory at $10 a day for anyone over the age of two with 15% being added onto your bar bill.

Celebrity Cruises - Tips are $11.50 per day, ($12 for concierge and aqua class and $15 for suites), with 15% being added on your bar and spa bill.

Costa Cruises - €7 per day for cruises of up to 8 days, €6 per day for cruises over 9 days with 15% extra on your bar and spa bill.

Cruise and Maritime - £5 per day for cruises of 15 nights or under and £4 per day for cruises of 16 days or longer. However as an English company nothing will be added to your bar or spa bills!

Cunard - $11 a day for Britannia passengers and $13 a day for Grills passengers with 15% on bar and spa prices.

Fred Olsen - £4 a day for all cruises but another British cruise line so nothing on your bar or spa bills!

Holland and America - $11 per person per day for all cruises and 15% on bar prices.

MSC - €12 a day for Caribbean and eastbound transatlantic crossings, €4-5 a day for all Med, Northern Europe and middle east cruises with 15% extra on drinks.

NCL - $12 a day with 15% added to tour bar bill.

Oceania cruises - $13.50 per person and $21.50 per person for any suites with a butler with an extra 18% added onto your bar and spa bills.

P&O cruise line - £1.50 per day is the suggested amount but it will only be added automatically if you are on freedom dining with nothing on your spa or bar bills. Another big thumbs up for a British company.

Princess cruise lines -  $10.50 per person per day going up to $11 per person per day for all suites and mini suites and a further 15% added to all bar and spa bills.

Regent - Absolutely no tipping expected on these all inclusive luxury cruises!

Royal Caribbean - $9.75 per person per day rising to $12 per person per day for the suites and between 10-15% on all bar bills.

Seabourn - Another all inclusive luxury cruise line where no tipping is expected.

Silversea - And the last of the luxury cruise lines, again no tipping expected.

Thomson - Not quite a six star cruise line but as they're British no tipping is asked for or expected.
