Glass bottomed cruise ships

We were talking in the office today about the new P&O ship that has just been announced to be built and launched exclusively for the UK market in 2015. It's going to be the biggest and apparently, the most innovative of all the P&O ships currently in service.
With all the new ships either out at the moment or to be released soon we were wondering what P&O could do to make her stand out from the crowd.
As you've probably guessed from the title of this post we think we've come up with an idea that might help them.......

Why not make a glass bottomed cruise ship?
Now don't just dismiss the idea out of hand its actually quite possible and just think how amazing it would be to see the bottom of the ocean floor as you sail the Caribbean or the Med.
They could convert the very bottom deck into a passenger deck and have viewing panels in all the bottom cabins so that when they advertise a sea view cabin they really mean it! Or if you don't like the idea of a glass bottom what about port hole window cabins below the water line like in an aquarium? With underwater lights to show all the fish swimming past.
With technology advancing the way it is there's really no reason why this couldn't be a possibility. What do you think? Would you book one of these cabins?
Or if not what new features would you like to see on P&Os new ship? Let me know here and I promise I'll pass all your comments on.

Happy cruising

  1. What I found on P&O that really made them stand out over every other cruise line we have been on is the truly appalling service and attitude of the officers on board.
