Project Sunshine - Have you heard?

As you know I always try to keep you all informed of the latest cruise news, gossip and rumours. Working for a specialist cruise travel agency I obviously get to speak to a lot of reps from the different cruise lines and hear some of the juicer gossip.
Something I heard today however has got me quite interested so I thought I'd share it all with you straight away.

I don't have a lot of info at the moment, (I'll tell you more when I hear more), and I'm not mentioning any sources but it seems Royal Caribbean has a new class of ship in development set to launch in 2012.
They're pitching it somewhere between a Voyager class ship and a Freedom class ship and she's being designed specifically for the UK market.
What does that mean?
Well apparently it's going to have a lot more inside areas, (to combat the bad weather I presume), but also, worryingly,  will be the size of the ship/passenger ratio. I'm hearing she will be about 158,000 tonnes but will hold up to 4,100 passengers. Just to compare that the Independence of the seas is 160,000 tonnes but only holds 3634 passengers. She's going to be crowded!
Still I've been surprised with Royal Caribbean ships before now and I'm sure they know what they're doing, (fingers crossed), so let's hope for the best. Maybe she won't seem so crowded when you're onboard? Whatever they do it'll still be nice to have another RCCL ship sailing out of the UK to compete with P&O and the like.
What do you think?

Happy Cruising
