Kosher food that will taste good?

Anyone that's been reading my blog for a while will know that Halal and Kosher food has always been a bit of a bug bear with me. It annoys me that so many cruise lines offer Kosher meals but not Halal and even when they do offer Kosher meals they're pre-packed microwave meals. Not really the standard I'd expect on a cruise ship!

Looking to improve on this situation, (somewhat, there still isn't a Halal option), Celebrity are set to launch a range of 'premium Kosher meals'.

It's an industry first, according to their press release, a dedicated Kosher menu prepared fresh in an O.U and U.S.D.A approved kitchen. All the selections are Glatt Kosher certified, the only downside being that whilst the 'traditonal' microwaved Kosher meal  will still be free, the premium meal will have to be paid for much the same as any other speciality restaurant.
The menus on offer do sound quite tasty though;
Herb Roasted Salmon;
BBQ Quartered Chicken;
Beef Brisket;
Citrus glazed chicken breast;
Citrus glazed tilapia;
They will also be offering a range of breakfast items along the lines of;
traditional Lox and bagels;
Belgian Waffles;
Wild mushroom ommelettes and pancakes.
A range of Kosher wines will also be available.

So thumbs up to Celebrity for this one. It's still not perfect and I'd still like to see a Halal option onboard but it's a big step forward in the right direction, don't you agree.
Well done Celebrity.

Happy Cruising
