NCL Epic - Facts and figures

Continuing on with my posts about the NCL Epic I thought it might be useful today, rather than talking about my impressions, if I gave you all the facts and figures of the ship instead.
Have you ever wanted to know how big she is?
How many people can fit onboard?
How many bars and restaurants are there really?
Well fear not, all the answers to those questions and more can be found below.

NCL Epic
Launched 2010
Gross tonnage - 155,873
Overall length - 329m, Beam 41m
Guest capacity 4,100
Total crew - 1,753

There's a total of 21 different dining choices onboard. A common complaint I hear about the Epic is that only half of these are free, whilst the other half come with some kind of cover charge. Whilst this is true for as far as it goes what you have to remember is that a normal cruise ships will probably only have three dining venues with just two of them being free so you're still getting superb value for money and a huge choice of restaurants.

20 bars and lounges ice bar - As you can see there's a whole host of bars to sample from a chilled out adult bar by the pool to a fantastic night club to an ice bar, (a bar made of solid ice, up to and including the glasses! There's a cover charge to go in but you get forty minutes and two free drinks so it's well worth it for the experience).

2 bowling alleys - I know right! When was the last time you saw a bowling alley at sea. However you wont be able to blame the motion of the ship on your performance as they are designed not to move when out at sea.

Climbing wall and three water slides - The slides are great fun and take it from an ex climber some of the spots on that climbing wall are quite tricky!

Solo cabins - This is where I think the Epic really comes into it's own. It has a section of solo cabins for the single cruiser and even access to a singles only lounge, (and no as I was once asked you wont be allowed in once your wife is asleep, you only get access to this once you've booked a solo cabin). They're great for making friends with other solo travellers.

Happy cruising
