You may have seen these cruises advertised over the last coupleof weeks. P&O launched them with a blaze of publicity to go on sale yesterday, (1st Nov 2012).
There were two cruises up for grabs, a three night mini cruise on the Aurora next year and a four night mini cruise on the Azura a couple of months later.
P&O have stated Russell Watson will do at three shows per sailing, (although the fine print does say that that's subject to change).
As expected as soon as it went on sale yesterday most of the cabin grades were booked straight away by both traditional cruise fans and Russell Watson fans alike.
But are a lot of them going to end up disappointed?
As already mentioned P&O have said Russell Watson will appear three times per cruise, (subject to change), and guests won't be able to pre-book theatre seats, they'll be seated on a first come first serve basis.
This gives the impression that everyone will get to see him, (they just wont have their choice of seats in the theatre), but a quick bit of maths work will show you quite a few people are going to be disappointed. Lets use the Azura as an example.......................
3 shows
Azura theatre seats about 800 people
800 seats x 3 shows = 2400 people to see his show.
That's 700 people who wont get to see him, (assuming some people don't queue early to see him two or three times.
Is this fair? Surely if P&O are selling this as a "Russell Watson cruise" they have a duty to make sure everyone who wants to see his show gets to. Why not just schedule enough shows for everyone when they booked him?
Admittedly not everyone onboard will want to see his show but I think a shortfall of 700 people is still too high.
What do you think? Would you be disappointed? Are you booked on one of these sailings? Did you think you'd definitely get to see him?
Let me know what you think here.
Happy cruising
