Live Hurtigruten broadcast - 134 hours!

Hurtigruten have been on my radar for a year or two now. I simply love everything this companies marketing department do. They converted the top couple of decks of their mail ships into passenger decks and started selling cruises to see the northern lights, (for those of you who hadn't realised Hurtigruten go further north than any other cruise line so they are perfect for the 'light hunters' out there looking to see the Aurora Borealis).
But the latest marketing ploy is simply genius!
They have filmed the worlds longest documentary onboard one of their ships, (yep, you guessed it the longest documentary in the world is now about cruising), and it's an incredible 134 hours long.
Filmed over the course of five and a half days it was screened live online and was also shown on Norwegian T.V.
Viewed in over 148 counties, it raked in 3 million Norwegian viewers, (that's almost three quarters of the population), with a further 2.9 million viewers tuning in online. And half of those viewers were tuning in from outside of Norway.
The broadcast resulted in an all time high hit count for Hurtigrutens website so once again I'd like to extend my congratulations to the Hurtigruten marketing team.
If you did miss the broadcast, (where were you?), I've found this speeded up clip on youtube for you all to check out.

Happy cruising.
