It seems I'm having a bit of a Royal Caribbean month this month on my blog and no for the cynical amongst you they're not paying me, (although if anyone from Royal Caribbean's reading this feel free to call me up and offer me some money). The other day I wrote about how most RCCL ships have boxing rings in the gym, (you can read the post by clicking here), and I recently wrote about the secret topless sunbathing deck on the Independence of the Seas, (which again you can read by clicking here). Today's post is going to have a bit more of a family cruising theme as I'll be telling you how some Royal Caribbean ships have Dreamworks characters onboard to entertain the kids, (and any young at heart adults).
The first thing you should know is that not all the ships have the characters onboard. In fact of the twenty plus ships in Royal Caribbeans fleet there are only four with these characters on. Allure of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas. So whilst I can imagine any familys with children out there loving these cruises you need to be careful about which ship you book on.
But whilst it's all well and good me saying that there are characters from all the different Dreamworks movies onboard; what do they actually do? There's a whole range of things available........
The first and most obvious thing is that there will be all the characters, (actors dressed up in suits, not the actual cartoons), helping out entertaining the kids clubs. They'll also be found wondering around on deck for lots of photo oppurtunitys.
Some of the ships will also have ice shows based around the characters, (for anyone that didn't already know a lot of Royal Caribbean ships have ice skating rinks onboard.). For instance the Allure of the Seas has a great ice show based on the hit Dreamworks movie How to Train a Dragon. There is also a high dive show performed at the back of the ships based on the movie Madagascar with high divers, swimmers, acrobats and more.
You can also watch a whole host of Dreamworks movies in stunning 3D courtesy of Royal Caribbeans new 3D cinemas or if you don't fancy the cinema your kids can watch the movies in your stateroom via special Dreamworks programming.
And lastly don't forget the stunning character parades down the royal promenade either.
Happy cruising
